Gift Guide: Valentine’s Day (for Him & Her)

Somehow January has just slipped by so quickly! But I’m back. And I can already tell that February is going to be a very busy month. Since it is already February, I’ve decided to round up a few gift ideas for Valentine’s Day in case you need a little help!

(1) Patagonia Pull Over – I love looking at Back Country for things, and right now they’re having their big Semiannual sale! / (2) Apple Watch – Shawn got me one for my birthday/Christmas gift, and I absolutely love it. It comes in so handy at work because I don’t have to have my phone on me the whole day. / (3) Comfy blanket – In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a big comfy blanket! / (4) Uggs – Not necessarily the big Ugg boots, but these cute slippers that you can wear around your home! / (5) Fitbit – For the one who’s active, or if you’re wanting to get in some healthy competition!

If all else fails, let them pick their own gift with these new adorable Nordstrom key chain gift cards!

My List of Favorite Things to do in the Pasadena Area

I absolutely love living in Pasadena! I have been compiling a list over the years of all the restaurants I love to eat at and all the places I love to go! So I thought I’d share them all with you and see if you had any suggestions of your favorite places in Pasadena and/or the greater Los Angeles area.

Green Street Restaurant (146 Shoppers Lane, Pasadena) – This is a must for everyone! And if you go, you need to try their Diane Salad. It is probably one of the best salads I have ever tried.  Their quesadillas are also very delicious!

Lemonade (146 South Lake Avenue, Pasadena) – Lemonade is a perfect spot to stop on those hot days to grab a light snack and a delicious cup of Lemonade!

Melt It! (105 North Hill Avenue #103, Pasadena) – Specialty Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, delicious soup, and deep fried Oreos, Snickers, and PB&J!

Mothermoo’s Creamery (17 Kersting Court, Sierra Madre) – Three words: Homemade Ice Cream! This is a cute little shop with the most delicious homemade ice cream I have ever tasted.  They make their waffle cones right there too!

Roscoes Chicken and Waffles (830 North Lake Avenue, Pasadena) – Chicken and Waffles doesn’t sound too good, but they are quite delicious together! This is a must try place.  But expect to wait awhile if you don’t have a reservation!

Dog Haus (105 North Hill Avenue, Pasadena) – Gourmet hot dogs, delicious corn dogs, milk shakes, and tater tots.

Ramen Tatsunoya (16 North Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena) – Great ramen if you’re wanting something for a colder evening!

King Taco (45 North Arroyo Pkwy, Pasadena) – Delicious, cheap, street tacos. Need I say more?

Blaze Pizza (667 East Colorado Blvd, Pasadena) – Personal pizzas! They have extra drizzle sauces you can add after the pizza is done cooking too!

Places to Visit

Pasadena City Hall (100 North Garfield Avenue, Pasadena) – City Hall is beautiful! If you walk inside the courtyard, there is a huge fountain.  This is a beautiful place to take photos and this is also where they film the show Parks and Recreation.

Old Town Pasadena – Old Town Pasadena is on Colorado.  It is about 3 – 4 blocks of shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and much more!  Definitely a fun place to go on evenings.

Vroman’s Book Store (695 East Colorado, Pasadena) – Wonderful little town bookstore. It’s a little dangerous for me to go in since I love buying books! They also sell stationery!

Griffith Park (4730 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles) – Great place for hiking and there’s always events going on too!

Pumpkin Patch

Friday afternoon Shawn and I went to the pumpkin patch with our two friends Chris and Michelle. We were thinking of going to the pumpkin patch at Cal Poly Pomona, but after realizing that we left too late to head out there and there was Friday traffic, we decided to just go to a small local pumpkin patch in Monrovia. The hard part about trying to enjoy the seasons in Southern California is in October, it can still hit 90 degrees, if not hotter. So part of me was hoping to take some photos in boots, a sweater, and a blanket scarf. However, the more realistic part of me was not willing to over heat so I opted with a fall colored top, jeans, and these Top Shop flats (similar and similar). We had a great time and now I’m just praying we get some cooler weather because I am so ready to pull out the sweaters and boots!

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was a mix of crazy and also a good amount of down time! Since I’m off of work at 1 PM everyday (one of the best perks about my job!) and a bunch of my friends either had the day off of they too were off early, we decided to head over to the pumpkin patch! Shawn told me I looked like a little 9 year old girl running around the pumpkin patch for the first time just because I was so excited to finally be doing something that had to do with fall. Here in Southern California, we’re a little mixed up about our seasons. Summer somehow starts in May and extends itself through October.

After going to the pumpkin patch, I met up with my friend Katie for dinner at a really good Thai restaurant right down the street from me (check out some of my other favorites over here on my Pasadena, CA page).

It was great to catch up on life over some delicious Pad Thai and discuss what true joy really meant to us. (Thank you Grace not Perfection for starting that conversation!)

Sunday afternoon, Shawn and I headed out to his grandma’s house for a family dinner. It was very rainy but the sky was absolutely beautiful! I’m definitely embracing this weather as it comes in small chunks.
