Travel Guide: San Jose del Cabo

Life is just crazy. Between trying to look for a new job and beginning the whole wedding planning process, I have not been able to keep up with ANYTHING. So this is definitely a very overdue post that I’ve been wanting to share with you since we got back from Mexico! And this is my warning to you now: this is a very photo heavy post.

If you’ve been following along on Snapchat or Instagram, you know that I’ve been a little busy but thanks to Spring Break, I was able to take a week off and go to San Jose del Cabo with Shawn and my parents! We had such a great time and aside from a little hiccup in the very beginning of our trip, it all went extremely smoothly. I’m convinced I gained about 10 pounds on the trip just from eating all the good food.

I’ve put together a little tour guide as to what we did and where we stayed. I’m planning on going into a little more detail about some things we did in other posts, so stay tuned!

Travel: We took a Southwest flight from LAX to Cabo. I absolutely love flying with Southwest because not only are they all friendly, but you can check luggage for free! And I’m an over packer, so that’s definitely a huge perk for me. Also, it was only a 2 hour flight, and both ways we got to our destination at least 30 minutes early!

Hotel: We stayed at the Cabo Azul resort, per recommendation of my mom’s friend! The staff was so friendly and helpful! The grounds were also so beautiful and well kept. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the hotel room decor (I wish I had taken a photo to share with you all!) but other than that, it was so comfortable.

Food: We ended up eating the majority at the hotel, but we did venture out to a few other places! The two restaurants at the hotel, Javier’s and Flor de Noche, were absolutely delicious. One night we even got a giant red snapper from Javier’s for dinner!  The tacos and sushi were so good at Flor de Noche, especially when you’re eating it in the poolside bar, IN the pool! But if you want to venture outside the hotel, you HAVE to try this little restaurant called El Fish & Grill. Their battered fish tacos… to die for!

Things to Do: We went through the hotel concierge and they referred us to their recommended companies to go through for various activities. We went through Cabo Adventures to go whale watching and another recommended company to go horse back riding! Seriously, if you’re on a vacation, go through the concierge. They are so helpful and they really know what they’re doing. Especially when you’re in another country.

3 Tips for Traveling

I have always loved traveling! I’m constantly looking for new places to visit and my list keeps getting longer and longer. If it was up to me, I would choose to travel all the time. When I’m coming back from one vacation, I’m already trying to figure out where I can go next. Today I’ve decided to share my 3 top traveling tips with you all!

  1. Avoid checking luggage if possible – There’s nothing worse than you arriving somewhere and realizing your luggage didn’t make it with you. It also makes it so much nicer to be able to walk right off the plane knowing you don’t have to wait around in baggage claim to wait for your suitcase to arrive. There are also some super cute carry on luggage options, which make it all the more better!

2. Wear your biggest clothes & shoes on the flight – I suppose this doesn’t apply if you are driving. When you’re driving, obviously wear your most comfortable clothes. However, if you’re flying (and not checking a suitcase) wear that large jacket and those boots so you don’t have to figure out how to squeeze them into your suitcase. Plus, you’ll be glad you have warm clothes on because airplanes are always FREEZING.

3. Always have your carry on essentials – Mine always include a large tote or purse, iPad, a good book, headphones, and snacks! Here’s a few of my favorite carry on totes and purses that I either use or definitely have my eye on.

Weekend Recap

I hope you all had a great weekend!  My weekend was so fun and busy that it made getting up for work early this Monday morning very difficult.

This past weekend, Shawn and I took Friday off of work and headed up north to visit my parents for the weekend. We were joined by two of our dear friends, Stephanie and Victor.  We got into San Jose late Thursday night and ended up being able to squeeze in a quick visit with one of Shawn and Victor’s high school friends who had recently moved to San Jose.

Friday morning we spent some time helping my dad on a project outside in the yard. The weather was beautiful! The leaves were starting to change color and really made me feel like fall was finally arriving.  That afternoon, as Victor and Stephanie headed up into the city to go to their own events, my parents, uncle, Shawn and I also headed up into San Francisco to go to the Giants vs. Dodger game! What a fun game that was. If you’re into baseball or follow me along in SnapChat (follow along: khoshiwara), you’ll know that it was a very exciting game. And the Giants won that night, and even swept the Dodgers, which made it all the more better.

Saturday Shawn and I spent the day with family in Carmel.  My aunt recently redid her back patio and added in a BBQ area. All the details from the shells in the concrete counter top to the little cooper pieces. It really made me wish that I lived in a home where I could do fun things like that rather than an apartment style condo.  But that day will come soon!

While we were in Carmel for dinner, I popped into this adorable little shop Clementine & Co. The shop was adorable and it was a good thing I didn’t have my wallet with me, otherwise I would’ve bought everything in the store!

Niagara Falls

So it’s no surprise when I say that summer really throws me off!  From only working 6 weeks during the summer, to going to visit my parents for 3 weeks, blogging has been pushed to the side.  However, if you’ve been following me on Instagram and Snapchat (add me: khoshiwara), you’d know that I went on the most amazing vacation!

My mom got the idea to go to Niagara Falls when my dad and I could both have some time off of work.  It was absolutely beautiful! If you haven’t gone, you must.  (Tip: Stay in Canada!)  The falls are beautiful, there is so much to do, and it’s so easy to get around since they have a bus transportation called “WeGo“.  We go the Adventure Pass which allowed us to see the majority of the main sites.  It was definitely worth it, and it helped because the Adventure Pass office helped schedule everything for us.  All we had to do was show up and show our passes.

There are multiple boats that take you into the falls… warning, you get soaked! But thankfully they give everyone free ponchos when you get on the boat.  The view was spectacular! I’m so glad we were able to go into the falls.

Journey Behind the Falls is definitely a long line, and I’m kind of glad we did this attraction last.  There’s a couple tunnels behind the falls so you can walk around and see the view from well, behind the falls.  It’s very crowded, but they do have a pretty cool observation deck.

The Whirlpool Aero Car was a little scary.  There’s about 30 people on this zip line car, but it does go slow.  The view was really amazing, but I was so afraid I was going to drop my phone into the whirlpool!

The Butterfly Conservatory had the most beautiful plants and butterflies, but the whole time I was totally terrified of butterflies landing on me.  So I honestly didn’t spend too much time in the room.

This is the view of the Canadian Falls (aka, Horseshoe Falls) from the Skylon Tower!  The view was amazing.  We went right at sunset.  They have a revolving dining experience too!

And of course, we can’t forget about the American Falls!  On Friday and Sunday nights, around 10 PM, they actually put on a mini firework show above the American Falls.  The falls are also lit up every night, either in rainbow colors or red, white, and blue for America, and Canada lights their falls up with red and white!

All in all, this was an amazing trip! If you’ve ever wanted to go to Niagara Falls, just do it!  It’ll definitely be worth it.
